Elephant Boy, 2023
Cashmere and plaster
28 x 22 x 13 cm
Elephant Boy delves into Garvida’s early experiences of isolation and imaginative resilience. Growing up in a large family, Jasper often found it difficult to connect with his much older siblings, leaving him feeling detached and alone. To overcome these feelings of loneliness, he turned to his vivid imagination, breathing life into his toys by giving them voices and personalities.
At the heart of this piece is a tribute to Jasper’s closest childhood companion - a stuffed toy elephant, who stood as his steadfast friend in a world where human connection often felt distant. Elephant Boy captures the tender bond between Jasper and his cherished toy, reflecting the power of imagination to transform solitude into companionship.
