'Tik & Tok' is a deeply personal work that reflects Garvida's experiences of exclusion and isolation during childhood. Jasper often felt ignored during family conversations, a sense of detachment that led him to seek refuge in his imagination. He created sock figures and in his make-believe world these became his friends, with whom he could engage, allowing him to find solace and connection. Through these imagined companions, Jasper was able to reflect and better understand himself in order to navigate the complexities of the world around him.

The piece was selected to be part of the Royal Academy’s prestigious Summer Exhibition in 2023, where it joined a collection of around 1,000 works from artists worldwide.
